This unit of competency has been approved by Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority  (ACECQA) who have deemed it to satisfy all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

Simply book into any HLTAID003 Provide First Aid course and select the optional unit - HLTAID004 Provide an emergency response in an education and care setting. A very small fee of $15 applies - most organisations charge in excess of $130 just for this unit alone. We only charge $105 for the Provide First Aid then ONLY $15 for this extra unit. Total of just $120 for BOTH units.

In addition to the face to face course you will need to complete a short on-line learning and assessment module. All of our Provide First Aid courses have this option of completing the additional unit. The on-line module requires access to a computer or smart phone with internet connection, and also basic computer skills. You will be guided through a mixture of slides, video's and text which builds on your knowledge as well as assesses you by asking you to complete multiple choice questions. You will also be required to access specific websites related to the childcare industry - this is simply done by using your computer or smart phone. This module can be completed up to 30 days after the course

This unit is designed for those who wish to gain a good understanding of first aid and those that are, or wish to become a designated first aider in their workplace and work within the childcare industry. 

Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet, as well as basic computer skills is required for completion of this unit

There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin. Participants will also be required to demonstrate various practical skills including application of slings etc

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

CPR refresher is recommended annually and Provide First Aid at least every 3 years

Face to face training is approx. 8 hours plus required on-line work and recommended pre-course learning

Pre-course work using a learning and assessment module is made available to participants of this unit. Successful completion of this is required to complete this unit. The on-line module will take up 3 hours excluding the viewing of the Vital First Aid videos and reading of other literature
