Target Audience

This unit is designed for those who wish to gain a good understanding of first aid and those that are, or wish to become a designated first aider in their workplace. It is also an excellent course to undertake even for those who just wish to learn about first aid.

Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet, as well as basic computer skills is required for completion of this unit. Completion of this unit does require the student to be able to get onto the floor to perform CPR – this is a licensing requirement of the unit.

If you have ANY special needs ( eg, language / literacy / numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities etc ) that you think may impact on your ability to complete this training please let us know prior to enrolling.

Pre-course study

It is required that you watch the CPR and slings videos as well as read the first aid book available on our website to aid in your understanding of CPR and first aid.

There will be a short quiz at the beginning of the course on the information contained in the videos, this is to enable the trainer to better guide the content of the course for you.

Assessment / course requirements

We normally use online assessments via the student Learner Portal for this unit. A smart phone or laptop, fully charged with internet access is generally required. It is the students responsibility to ensure they have such a device and have gained prior access to their Learner Portal. Information on accessing their portal is available on their Confirmation email

There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin. Participants will also be required to demonstrate various practical skills including application of slings etc
